Uptek is a Potash Mobilizing Bacteria culture based on a Probiotics technology.
Potash – Role in plants and Relation to soil chemistry
Potassium occurs abundantly in nature. It is the 7th most common element in the earth’s crust. Certain clay minerals associated with heavy soils are rich sources of K, containing as much as 17% potash.
Additional Information
Potassium is required in the ripening process of fruits, and seeds. Potassium levels can be increased during the flowering/fruiting phase to harvest a heavy, colorful and firm produce. High potassium levels in some crops help increase resistance foliar diseases such as powdery mildew. Under low lighting growth conditions higher potassium to nitrogen ratios in the range of 3:1 helps healthy vegetative growth. Under brighter the same nutrient proportion may be closer to 1:1 to stimulate vigorous green growth. Most plants do well on potassium levels in the range of 100 to +400 ppm.
Potassium in Soils
The total K content of soils frequently exceeds 20,000 ppm (parts per million). Nearly all of this is in the structural component of soil minerals and is not available for plant growth
Three forms of K (unavailable, slowly available or fixed, readily available or exchangeable) exist in soils.
Key Advantages of Uptek
Uptek contains the Potash Mobilizing Bacteria in a spore form, which ensures longer shelf life and better sustainability after application in soil.
Uptek is a Dextrose based product, which means dextrose, is used as a carrier, which acts as an emergency food for the sporulated bacteria.
How to use Uptek?
Uptek can be applied through the drip irrigation systems. This ultimately saves the cost of application. Since Uptek is in a very high concentration there is no need to activate the product before use, it can be applied immediately.
How Uptek mobilizes Potash?
Uptek when applied to the soil secretes organic acids, which in turn mobilizes potassium from silicates, which are naturally formed in soil, and also to some extent by fixation of fertilizer applied potassium getting fixed with silica in soil. Uptek thus mobilizes Potassium and Silica in soil.
